Ever wonder why you drive to the park or gym, just to go for a walk or get exercise? This week, try walking, biking, or jumping on the bus instead. Introduce your kids to public transportation or start teaching them “rules of the road” while you bicycle to the park. Afterwards, come back to this page and use the "What's Your Idea" button below to tell us what it was like to find an alternative way to get to the park or the gym. Share a photo or video that may be incorporated into the final Statewide Pedestrian and Bicycle Plan. More Details »

About The Challenge
More Information about the WalkBikeNC Challenge
The WalkBikeNC Challenge encourages new walking and biking behavior by challenging North Carolina residents to walk or bike to places they may not have tried to travel to before. A new location will be announced each week and participants will be encouraged to share their ideas and experiences, positive and negative, associated with traveling via walking, biking, or transit in lieu of a car. The WalkBikeNC Challenge will run from September through October. All posted locations will remain "live" throughout the duration of the Challenge, allowing participants to return to a previously posted location and share their ideas and experiences. The Winner |
